From the 15th to the 19th October we had an action packed International week at Friars.
Monday 15th – Stefan from Bigfoot Theatre entertained us all with an Anansi story in assembly. He then spent the rest of the day doing storytelling and drama workshops around the school.
Tuesday 16th – with a professional drummer, we created a huge noise and lots of energy when all classes had drumming workshops.
Wednesday 17th – we have introduced Mandarin into the curriculum with a teacher from the Confucius Institute for traditional Chinese Medicine at London South Bank University. As part of the package, they provided us with an amazing performance which was a mix of traditional and modern dance, traditional music and martial arts demonstrations.
Thursday 18th – Children from Y4 and Y6 did independent research on significant figures from Black History and presented them to the rest of the school.
Friday 19th – Many children came to school in traditional dress, the parents had a sharing lunch where they brought in international dishes and then all children did a dance performance choreographed by our fantastic dance teacher, Chantal Joseph.
